SPC Flooring Installation in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor

SPC has a rigid stone-composite core, which makes it the most dimensionally stable of the click-lock floors and the one that copes best with humidity — the usual reason people choose it over laminate here.

Cost Factors

What affects the cost of SPC Flooring Installation?

Understanding what drives price helps you compare quotes fairly and prepare useful details for assessment.

Floor area

Priced per square foot, so the area is the main driver.

Subfloor condition

A flat subfloor lays quickly; an uneven one must be levelled first or the joints will fail.

Room shape and obstacles

Many doorways, columns and fitted units mean more cutting.

Skirting or beading choice

Different trim options carry different costs.

Materials

Common materials for SPC Flooring Installation

Materials are chosen based on property type, usage and budget. We use standard trade materials suited to Malaysian homes.

SPC planks

Rigid stone-composite core with a wear layer; more stable in heat and humidity than laminate.

Underlay

Used where the product specifies it, for acoustics and minor subfloor tolerance.

Skirting or beading

Covers the perimeter expansion gap, which must be left rather than filled.

Our Process

How we carry out SPC Flooring Installation

01

Check the subfloor

We check flatness and report before laying, because tolerance issues cannot be fixed afterwards.

02

Acclimatise

Planks are left in the room so they adjust to its conditions before installation.

03

Lay with expansion gaps

Planks are laid with a perimeter gap so the floor can move without buckling.

04

Cut and fit

Doorways, corners and fixed items are cut around neatly.

05

Trim

Skirting or beading is fitted to cover the gap.

FAQs

SPC Flooring Installation — Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most about this service.

Is SPC waterproof?+

The plank itself does not swell with water the way a laminate core does, which is a real advantage here. But the floor as a system is not sealed — water can still get through the joints and sit on the subfloor. Wipe up spills; do not treat it as a wet-area floor.

Why does the expansion gap matter?+

Because a click-lock floor floats — it is not glued down, and it needs room to move with temperature. If it is laid tight to the walls, it has nowhere to expand and lifts in the middle instead. A floor peaking in the centre of the room is nearly always a missing expansion gap.

Can SPC be laid over my existing tiles?+

Often yes, if the tiles are firmly bonded and reasonably flat, and if the extra height still lets doors clear. It saves the cost and mess of hacking. What matters is the grout lines and any hollow tiles — we check before recommending it.

SPC, vinyl or laminate — which should I pick?+

Broadly: SPC is the most stable and hardest underfoot, vinyl is softer and quieter, laminate usually looks closest to timber but is the least tolerant of moisture. For most Malaysian homes the decision comes down to humidity exposure and how much traffic the room gets.
