Tile & Tiling Services in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor

Tiles are among the hardest-working surfaces in any home. They handle daily foot traffic, water splashes, humidity and the occasional dropped object — so a well-prepared surface and careful installation make the difference between tiles that last for years and tiles that crack, hollow out or lift within months. Renovix provides complete tile and tiling services for homes and commercial spaces across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and the wider Klang Valley, from full bathroom and kitchen projects to single broken tile replacements.

We cover every stage of the job: old tile hacking and removal, floor leveling and screeding, tile installation, grouting, skirting and finishing. We also coordinate closely with related work such as bathroom waterproofing, plumbing and general renovation, so your tiling project fits into the wider picture without surprises — whether you are renovating before moving in, upgrading one bathroom, or repairing damage after a leak.

Quick Answers

Common questions about Tile & Tiling

Direct answers to the questions customers and search engines ask most often about this service.

What does tiling typically cost in KL & Selangor?

Tiling costs start from RM8 per sqft for standard ceramic floor or wall tiling supply & lay in KL & Selangor, RM14–RM28 for mid-range 60x60cm porcelain. Large-format porcelain costs more and is quoted per job after checking the substrate. Small repair jobs start from RM150 for a few tiles, bathroom complete from RM1,700 for 120 sqft combined. Final price depends on tile size, material, pattern, surface condition and whether hacking or waterproofing is needed.

What does bathroom tiling include?

Complete bathroom tiling includes surface prep, leveling check, waterproofing coordination, floor and wall tile installation with clean joints, grout and skirting, and cleaning. Waterproofing membrane itself is quoted separately if needed, typically from RM8 per sqft, and takes 5–8 days including curing and flood test.

Can you repair broken or hollow tiles without retiling whole floor?

Yes. We remove only the damaged tiles, check the base for hollow or uneven screed, re-bed and secure new matching tiles with regrouting. Cost starts from RM150 for a few tiles. If many tiles are hollow, full retiling is recommended to avoid future cracking.

How long does tiling take?

Floor tiling 100–200 sqft takes 2–4 days including prep, bathroom complete 4–7 days with waterproofing, tile repair a few hours, and hacking 1–2 days per 100 sqft. Large-format tiles take longer due to leveling requirements. Waterproofing needs 24–72 hour flood test before tiling.

Service Overview

Complete Tiling Services for Homes & Commercial Spaces

Tiling is only as good as the surface beneath it. That is why our approach always starts with preparation — assessing the existing surface, sorting out leveling and waterproofing needs, and only then installing the tiles.

For new tiling work, we prepare the floor or wall properly before a single tile goes down: old finishes are removed, uneven surfaces are leveled and screeded, and wet areas are waterproofed first. This avoids the hollow-tile, lippage and seepage problems that usually appear when tiling is rushed. We then install your chosen tiles with clean, consistent joints, followed by grouting and skirting for a finished look.

For repair work, we identify the actual cause of the problem — a cracked tile, a hollow tile, crumbling grout or moisture moving behind the surface — and fix it at the source rather than simply covering it up. We work with porcelain, ceramic, homogeneous and mosaic tiles, and can advise on which type suits your space, usage and budget.

Problems We Solve

Tiling Problems We Solve

Tiling problems rarely stay small — a loose tile can crack, and moisture behind tiles can damage the structure below. These are the issues we deal with most often.

  • Cracked & broken tiles

Cracks from dropped objects, heavy furniture or age — replaced to restore a clean, safe and watertight surface.

  • Hollow & loose tiles

Tiles that sound hollow or lift underfoot, usually caused by poor adhesion or movement in the base below.

  • Uneven floors & lippage

Tiles sitting at different heights create tripping hazards, collect dirt and make the whole room look unfinished.

  • Outdated or worn-out tiling

Old colours, stained grout and worn surfaces that date a bathroom or kitchen — replaced for a fresh look.

  • Water seepage around wet areas

Moisture seeping through bathroom, toilet or balcony tiles, often visible only after damage appears below.

  • Tiles lifting on balconies & outdoors

Weather exposure and trapped moisture causing outdoor tiles to lift, crack or become unsafe underfoot.

FAQs

Tile & Tiling — Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most about this service.

How much does tiling cost in Malaysia?

Tiling is measured in square feet, and the tile format is the main lever: standard ceramic starts from RM8 psf supply & lay, while large-format porcelain costs more because it demands a flatter base and slower laying. What sits under the tiles is the other variable — hacking off old tiles, new screed and waterproofing are each priced as separate stages, and that is where two quotes for the same bathroom genuinely differ. A few tiles or a small patch falls under a minimum job charge rather than the per-sqft rate.

Can new tiles be laid over existing tiles?

In some cases yes, but it depends on the condition of the existing tiles, the resulting floor height and the type of new tile. We check the surface first and recommend removal where a direct overlay would compromise the result.

How do I know if a tile is hollow or loose?

Hollow tiles usually produce a different sound when tapped and may feel slightly springy underfoot. If you notice this, it is worth having the tile checked before it cracks or shifts further.

Is waterproofing needed before bathroom tiling?

For bathroom floors and wet walls, waterproofing before tiling is the standard approach to prevent seepage and protect the floor below. We can include it as part of your bathroom tiling project.

What is floor screeding and when is it needed?

Screeding levels and prepares the concrete base before tiling. It is needed when the existing floor is uneven, which would otherwise cause lippage or hollow tiles over time.

How long does a bathroom tiling job take?

It depends on the size of the bathroom and how much preparation is required — hacking, leveling and waterproofing each add time. We give a realistic schedule after assessing the site.

Can you match replacement tiles to my existing tiles?

We do our best to match size, shade and finish. Where the original tile is no longer available, we suggest the closest match or a compatible alternative.
