Almost always because there is no room for the floor to expand at the perimeter. A floating floor grows and shrinks with temperature and humidity, and if it is tight against the walls the only way it can go is up. The fix is usually trimming the gap and relaying the affected area — not replacing the floor.
Yes, though it is more work than it looks. Click systems interlock, so planks usually have to be released back from an edge or the damaged plank cut out and the replacement modified to fit. It is very doable, but it is not a five-minute job.
Then an exact match may not be available, and we will tell you honestly rather than fitting something obviously different. Options include taking planks from a wardrobe or hidden area and putting the mismatched ones there, or accepting a close rather than exact match.
Not usually structural, but it is worth looking at. A squeak in a floating floor is generally movement — a void under the plank, a loose joint, or debris trapped under the underlay. It rarely gets worse quickly, but the movement causing it does slowly wear the joint.
