Painting

Interior Painting in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor

The difference between a paint job that looks good for a year and one that looks good for five is almost entirely in the preparation — filling, sanding and priming — not in the brand of paint on the tin.

Cost Factors

What affects the cost of Interior Painting?

Understanding what drives price helps you compare quotes fairly and prepare useful details for assessment.

Wall and ceiling area

Priced per square foot of painted surface, not floor area.

Surface condition

Sound walls need light preparation; heavily patched or peeling walls take much longer.

Colour change

Going from a dark colour to a light one usually needs an additional coat.

Furnished or empty

An empty unit is faster to paint than one where furniture must be moved and protected.

Materials

Common materials for Interior Painting

Materials are chosen based on property type, usage and budget. We use standard trade materials suited to Malaysian homes.

Paint

Usually supplied by the customer so you choose the brand and finish; we can quote it separately if you prefer.

Filler and primer

Filler for cracks and holes, and primer on patched or bare areas so the topcoat covers evenly.

Our Process

How we carry out Interior Painting

01

Protect

Floors, furniture and fittings are covered before anything is opened.

02

Prepare

Cracks and holes are filled, loose material removed and surfaces sanded.

03

Prime

Patched and bare areas are primed so they do not flash through the finish.

04

Two topcoats

Two coats are applied to the agreed colour, with drying time between them.

05

Clean and reinstate

We clean down and put the room back.

FAQs

Interior Painting — Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most about this service.

Do I supply the paint or do you?+

Most customers supply their own, because paint choice is personal and prices vary a lot between brands and finishes. Our rate is for labour and preparation. If you would rather we sourced it, we quote the paint separately so you can see both numbers.

Why is preparation such a big part of the cost?+

Because it is most of the work and all of the durability. Filling, sanding and priming take longer than rolling the paint on. A new coat over a poorly prepared wall shows every defect and starts peeling wherever the old surface was loose.

My paint keeps peeling in the same spot. Will repainting fix it?+

Not on its own. Repeated peeling in one place means moisture is reaching the wall, usually from outside or from a leak. Painting over it will look right for a few months and then blister again. The water has to be dealt with first, then the wall dried out, then repainted.

Can you paint over a mouldy wall?+

Not without treating it. Mould will grow back through new paint, and painting it in simply traps the problem. The mould has to be treated and the moisture source addressed. If it keeps returning after treatment, the underlying issue is damp, not paint.
